Prague celebrates 25 years as a UNESCO World Heritage Site

Date: 14.12.2017
Prague is the capital of the Czech Republic, right in the very heart of Europe, and is considered one of Europe’s most beautiful cities.

Prague was listed on UNESCO's list on December 14, 1992. Nowadays it commemorates its 25th anniversary of its inclusion into the List of World Cultural and Natural Heritage. UNESCO is protecting the area of 866 hectares, including the Prague Castle and Hradčany, the Lesser Town including the Charles Bridge, the Old Town with Josefov, the New Town and Vyšehrad.

With its inimitable atmosphere shaped over eleven centuries, Prague is celebrating its twentieth anniversary since it was included on UNESCO’s List of World Cultural and Natural Heritage.

The historical pearl of Europe, the golden city, the city of a hundred spires, the heart of Europe – these are just some of Prague’s more popular nicknames. Prague is legendary for its unforgettable view of the Prague Castle from Charles Bridge, the Vltava (Moldau) that flows through the centre of the city and the lookout tower on Petřín Hill.

The historical centre offers a vast array of historical treasures in the form of churches, palatial buildings, squares, fountains, pillars and arcade passageways.

Prague now pulses to the beat of modern life. The city is filled with music from all various genres, romance and nostalgia. Countless cultural events are held in concert halls, theatres and clubs as well as outdoors along the riverfront, on squares and in parks.

Prague always has something to offer no matter the weather or season. And if you don’t choose anything, you won’t regret just taking a walk through Prague – there’s always something to see everywhere around you.
